Life Expectancy Calculator

How long will you live? And, more importantly, what could you change to live longer?

Longlevity's free life expectancy calculator gives you a personalized estimate based on CDC data and research covering 40M+ people. It takes about 2 minutes, asks no invasive health questions, and gives you something most longevity tools don't: a specific number and the specific habits that could change it.

What the calculator does

Most online "life expectancy calculators" do one of two things: they ask you 50 invasive questions and hand you a number with no context, or they ask 3 and hand you a number that's just your country's average. Longlevity is built for the gap in the middle.

The assessment is 11 questions across the habits that mortality research consistently identifies as the strongest predictors of how long, and how well, you live: sleep, exercise, diet, stress, relationships, smoking, alcohol, purpose, preventive care, body weight, and family history. Each one is anchored to a specific meta-analysis, the full study list and effect sizes are on the methodology page.

We combine your answers with U.S. CDC life tables to produce an estimate, then show you which habits are protecting you and which are pulling your trajectory down. The assessment and your numbers are free, always. No account. No credit card required.

What you get from taking it

Here's what shows up when you finish:

  1. Two numbers, side by side: your estimated lifespan and your biological age. The lifespan is a specific number based on your demographics plus your assessment answers; the biological age estimates how fast your habits are aging you versus your calendar age. You'll see how your estimate compares to an average person your age, plus a timeline of the road ahead: where you are today, where your habits point, and the potential still on the table if you improved the habits currently pulling you down.

  2. Your longevity archetype, in the Report: one of seven identity-forward patterns: the Burnout Runner (great discipline, bad recovery), the Coaster (strong emotional foundation, coasting physically), the Optimizer (already ahead, fine-tuning), the Stress Carrier (one dominant drag), the Late Starter (lots of room to grow), the Blind Spot (strong profile with one hidden weakness), and the Builder (an above-average base with two or three clear gaps to close). Most calculators give you a number. We give you a pattern: the kind of thing you might describe to a friend. The archetype and the full ranked analysis come with the one-time $19 Longlevity Report; the two numbers and your #1 lever are free.

  3. A place to start this week: your #1 lever with its real number, free, plus the 160+ habit library of science-backed actions, free to read. The full ranking, with the years each habit is worth to you, is part of the optional one-time report.

How the math works

Longlevity combines three things: a U.S. CDC actuarial baseline for someone your age and sex, habit-specific adjustments drawn from mortality studies, and an interaction discount that keeps the estimate conservative when multiple habits are improving at once (since overlapping biological mechanisms mean improvements don't linearly add up).

The full breakdown (every study used, the exact shape of each adjustment, and the limits of what Longlevity can tell you) is on the methodology page. Worth reading if you want to pressure-test what's behind your number.

The goal is to be the most accurate lifespan and biological age estimate you can get without bloodwork or an hour of forms. So the engine doesn't stand still: we review new longevity research every month and recalibrate when the evidence warrants, with every change versioned and logged on the methodology page. Re-measuring is always free, which means your estimate keeps getting more accurate over time, not just your habits.

Who this is for

Longlevity is built for adults (we recommend 18+ for the calculator itself, ages 13-17 can use it with a parent) who want:

If you have a specific medical condition, are currently under care for a chronic illness, or want advice calibrated to your personal medical history, Longlevity is not a substitute for a doctor. It's educational. Use it to inform conversations with a healthcare provider, not to replace them.

Who this isn't for

Longlevity is built for adults wanting actionable, science-backed longevity guidance, not a replacement for medical care. Two limits worth knowing upfront:

Frequently asked questions

How long does the assessment take?

About 2 minutes. 11 quick questions, no health data required beyond your general habits and basics. You'll see your number and breakdown immediately when you finish.

Can I take the assessment more than once?

Yes, and we recommend it. A longevity assessment a year from now is genuinely different from one today (your habits change, your answers shift, your baseline updates). Think of it as an annual longevity physical: save your results and we'll invite you back around your birthday to re-measure, free. You can also re-measure any time in between. Unsubscribe any time.

What makes this different from other life expectancy calculators?

Two things. One: every adjustment maps to a specific published study, not vague wellness points, the sources are on our methodology page. Two: the free result names your single biggest lever with its real number, and the Longlevity Report turns the whole profile into an actionable pattern (your archetype plus every habit ranked), not just a number. Most free longevity calculators are either too thin to be useful or thinly disguised supplement funnels.

How accurate is a life expectancy calculator?

No calculator can tell you the year you'll die, and any that claims to is overselling. What a good one can do is give you a well-grounded estimate: your CDC actuarial baseline, adjusted by habit effects drawn from studies covering tens of millions of people, kept deliberately conservative. The real value isn't the decimal place, it's the relative read: which habits are helping, which are costing you years, and how much is still on the table. Treat the number as a direction to move in, not a verdict, and re-measure over time to watch it change.
